Watercolor Sketchbook - Spiderhouse Cafe / Naked Lunch - Stephanie

I just love sketching at coffee shops. I usually do some pen sketching for a few minutes and then do a small painting. I rarely post my pen sketches because they look boring next to a colored picture. Austin is insanely beautiful this time of year. Everything has a warm glow! I tried to show that in the umbrellas, bushes, and on the people. Everything felt great today. It was an ideal day. I met a very sweet and cute dog named "Chad" at Spiderhouse, I drew all day long, I painted, I had lunch with a good friend, the sun was shining, the breeze was cool. It was perfection.
This is from the Naked Lunch sessions. These are 7 minutes long...

I hope you feel the way I felt today!

" Zombie Kid" Watercolor

I've been trying to think of what to paint that might appeal to my friend Tom if he were a little kid. This guy likes stuff that's not really kid-friendly. He likes monster movies, blood, gore, and really dark stuff. I wanted to try and meld two unlikely genres. A kid-friendly zombie is the result. The dog is modeled after my sister's dog Alex.

Hope you like Zombie Kid!

"Wally the Birthday Pig" Watercolor

He loves birthdays!! I think the thumbnail image of this one looks kind of crappy. best to zoom in on this one :) The original painting looks so much better than this digitized version. Oh well :) The image is 22.24" x 15"

Wally says Happy Birthday to Penny!

short pose session - drawings of M.K.

Monday nights at the AVAA are great. 3 hours of drawing, tons of poses. Lots of chances to experiment. Michelle is a reliable model who frequents the AVAA. I dont know why but my drawings of her always turn out better than other models (I think... you be the judge).
